Biography/History: Eugene D. Cizek (b. 1940) is Emeritus Professor of Architecture at Tulane University and a founder of the Preservation Resource Center.
Mark Cave is the curator of manuscripts and oral historian for The Historic New Orleans Collection.
The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to preserving the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South. The institution was founded in 1966 by General L. Kemper Williams and Leila Moore Williams -- collectors of Louisiana materials who wished to share their holdings with the public.
Scope and Content: Eugene D. Cizek was interviewed by Mark Cave for the New Orleans Life Story Project, participating in seven interviews from January 22 - April 11, 2013. Topics discussed by Cizek include his childhood; his education at Lousiana State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tulane University; various historic preservation and architectural projects; his role in the creation of the Preservation Resource Center and his life with his partner, Lloyd Sensat. All seven interviews have been transcribed.
