Scope and Content: The papers in this collection detail Mary Louise Christovich’s work with many institutions, including Friends of the Cabildo, The National Register Review Committee, Save our Cemeteries, and the Historic Districts Landmarks Commission (HDLC). Also included are papers that document her architectural studies of New Orleans and genealogical research into her family.
There are extensive records related to Christovich’s involvement with the Friends of the Cabildo (FOC) and other preservation efforts in New Orleans; minutes, agendas, and property summaries from the HDLC; FOC correspondence, agendas, minutes, memos, invitations, member lists, by-laws, mailings, financial reports, receipts, cancelled checks, bank statements, newsletters, and National Endowment for the Arts grants and supporting documents; papers documenting her involvement in bringing the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition to New Orleans; letters, grants, awards, and curriculum vitae from the Louisiana Archaeological Survey & Antiquities Commission.
Papers from the National Register of Historic Places include nominee information from various years between 1994 and 2012, from New Orleans as well as other parts of the state. Also included are correspondence, brochures, newspaper clippings, financial records, and other material related to Mrs. Christovich's work with the Save Our Cemeteries organization. Research materials and notes for the New Orleans Architecture series detail her work on The Esplanade Ridge, Tremé, and Bayou Road. An unpublished addition on Bayou St. John includes square maps and handwritten notes.
