Biography/History: Wm H. Seemann (1878-1938) was a bacteriologist and served as Dean of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, including Preventative Medicine at Tulane University. He also served as president of the Orleans Parish Medical Society.
John M. Richards (1880-1947) ran for Recorder of Mortgages in New Orleans in 1930. He aligned himself with Francis Williams, who was a candidate for mayor.
Scope and Content: The Seemann Family Papers includes items directly related to brothers John M. and William H. Seemann, as well as items with a tangential connection to them. Course tickets from when William Seemann attended Tulane Medical School are included, as well as his Louisiana State Board of Health bacteriologist pin. An Orleans Parish Medical Society meeting reminder is also present. This collection also contains a campaign card from John M. Seemann's bid for Recorder of Mortgages for the city of New Orleans. Other items include a program for a Vatican Choirs performance, a card concerning a package delivered to the Grunewald Hotel, and a poll book from the 8th ward.
