Object Description A paper cover staple bound souvenir booklet of postcards, depicting late 19th and early 20th century views of New Orleans. The book consists of six pages of postcards, with four postcards on each perforated page. Each postcard is captioned on the back of the card and in the gutter of each page, and more information about each scene is recorded on the inside front and back covers of the book. The inside front cover also includes information on the sources of the photographs reproduced on the postcards, and a short overview of the history of New Orleans. The following scenes are depicted: Lizardi's on Canal St. ca. 1910; Orpheum Theatre and St. Charles Ave, 1915, St. Louis Cemetery with mourning women, 1900; Maison Blanche, 1898; Fate Marable's Band, 1918; Workers unloading cotton from a steamboat, ca. 1915; St. Charles Hotel and Peter Fabacher & Brothers Restaurant, 1910; Mule-drawn milk delivery cart, ca. 1900; Jackson Square, ca. 1895; Luggers at Picayune Pier, 1895; Royal St., ca. 1895; French Market, ca. 1895; Audubon Park, ca. 1895; New Basin Canal, 1889; The Cotton Exchange, ca. 1900; The LeCarpentier-Beauregard House, 1890; Madame John's Legacy, ca. 1895; The Mississippi River levee, 1900; Ladies of Storyville, ca. 1903; and the Rex Parade, ca. 1900.
